I have reinstalled the driver from the original CD and the error message is still issued. Does the issue persist when you perform a scan of a particular document? I have reinstalled the drivers and checked for any updates and there are none. So my conclusion is that Windows Fax and Scan gets along with Canon scanners but not Lexmark and I will just have to live with my work around.

She did confirm that all my drivers were up to date. What is the complete error message that you get when you scan? This thread is locked. I have not tried to reinstall the driver as the Scan function works.

Have a nice day! As I have scna, I am able to scan documents and save them on my computer so obviously it is on and connected. Update or reinstall the driver if required and try again. Hope this information helps.
